So this is a blog, and this is my first posting on it. Welcome!
The reason I have set this blog up is because our marketing guys tell me it is a must for me and more specifically my business. The business is Kirkpatrick & Hopes (or K&H), consulting accountants and business advisers- http://www.kandh.co.uk/. I am the MD and I also help our clients develop their businesses.
What's the difference between an ordinary accountant and what we do at K&H? As well as doing the accounts and taxes and telling you how you did last year, we help you decide if you are happy with the numbers- eg do you have enough profit and time with your family? If the answer is no, we can help you improve the business, eg by helping you plan, increase profits, build a team and create great systems. In other words to change the numbers for the better.
What will I be using this site for? To record some of my experiences as a business owner and also the experiences of our clients. I hope you will identify with some of these experiences that you read about and perhaps even gain some inspiration from them.
I will also record in here advice that has helped me and other, including books, links, articles, people that I know have helped me and others.
Tomorrow I am attending a course called "pricing for maximum profit". In my experience working with clients, pricing is perhaps the biggest single area with the greatest potential for improvement. A "value pricing" approach can transform a business almost literally overnight. I hope I can tell you more about this after the course.
Perhaps my first tip is to consider whether you or your business need blog, and if you already have one, does it work for you? Have a look at http://www.blogger.com/ (which is what I am using) to help to decide.
I think that the underlying objective of a blog should be to give value to people. If you do that, success and happiness (and money, if you want it) will follow. Find out more about this from http://www.davidmaister.com/ who I have learned a great deal from.
Please give me your feedback good or bad on this blog or anything else. If you are a K&H client, you can also do this at www.kandh.co.uk/feedback.htm. Many thanks.
